Why we built Noet
We built Noet to prepare useful work before you ask, bringing together the context behind your day while leaving you in control of what happens next.
Sources and product references
Before you can do the work, there is usually some other work to do.
Before a meeting, you need to find the last conversation. Before replying to an email, you need to check what changed. Before giving someone an update, you need to piece together the decisions, the progress, and the loose ends.
We built Noet around a simple frustration: I keep doing the groundwork before I can do the real work.
Our aim is for useful work to be ready before you ask. A brief to review before a meeting. A reply draft with the relevant context. A follow-up that helps you pick up where you left off. You still make the decisions. You start with something prepared.
The groundwork adds up
For founders and individual engineers, preparation is woven through the day. A customer conversation informs a product decision. That decision becomes an issue. The implementation lands in a pull request. A new message changes the plan.
Each tool holds a useful piece of the story. Understanding what to do next means bringing those pieces together: who asked for what, what was agreed, and what has happened since.
That work is easy to overlook because it rarely looks like a task. It is the five tabs you open before writing two sentences. The thread you reread before joining a call. The detail you remember seeing but cannot quite place.
We want Noet to carry more of that preparation, so you can spend your attention on the work that needs your judgement.
Useful help starts with context
A good brief needs more than a calendar title. A useful reply needs more than the latest message. Preparation improves when it includes the history behind the task.
Noet brings together context from connected tools such as Gmail, Slack, GitHub, and Linear. Ask Noet lets you ask about that work from your Mac and inspect the sources behind an answer. Optional Moments capture adds recall for things you saw on screen, with controls for pausing capture, exclusions, and retention.
Search and recall support the larger purpose: helping Noet prepare something relevant. Finding a conversation matters because of what it lets you do next.
Take initiative, leave the decision with you
The experience we are building is closer to a capable colleague who brings you useful work to review. Someone who has done the reading before handing you a draft.
That sets a higher bar than producing a plausible paragraph. A prepared reply should reflect the conversation. A meeting brief should help you understand what needs attention. If context is missing or an action fails, the product needs to make that clear.
It also sets a boundary. Preparing a reply does not give Noet permission to send it. Preparing a follow-up does not mean making a commitment on your behalf. You review the work and decide whether to act; external and destructive actions follow your configured confirmation policy.
Initiative is useful when you can trust both the work and the limits around it.
Close to your work, with controls you can understand
We chose the Mac desktop because it is where this work happens. Noet can sit alongside your existing tools, available through a shortcut when you need it.
The context behind your work deserves care. Noet stores indexed data locally on your Mac. Selected context can be sent to configured AI providers when needed, so local storage does not mean every operation stays on the device. We want those boundaries to be understandable, with clear choices about connected accounts and optional screen capture.
An assistant earns its place by making your day easier. That means useful preparation without becoming another inbox to manage or another system that needs constant attention.
What we are building towards
Our starting point is work: helping founders and individual engineers arrive prepared, spend less time gathering context, and repeat less of the background each time they need help.
Meeting briefs, reply drafts, and follow-ups give that direction a concrete shape. We will judge progress by whether the prepared work is relevant enough to use, easy enough to check, and worth the attention it asks for.
That is why we built Noet. We want you to open your next piece of work and find that the groundwork is already there.
Noet connects your tools into one queryable context layer for macOS.
